Drone factory supplying Ukraine catches fire in Poland: unknown individual spotted on premises

A fire broke out overnight at a factory belonging to WB Electronics in Poland, a company that produces drones for the Ukrainian and Polish armies, among others. Shortly before the fire started, surveillance cameras reportedly captured an unknown individual wearing a balaclava on the company's premises.

Details: The incident occurred at the WB Electronics factory in the town of Skarżysko-Kamienna, halfway between Warsaw and Kraków, which produces military drones for the Polish and Ukrainian armies, as well as flight controllers.

The fire broke out on the night of 30-31 August, 23 minutes after midnight. Simultaneously, the operator of the security firm tasked with monitoring the facility alerted police after sensors were triggered, potentially indicating the intrusion of unauthorised individuals.

Surveillance cameras reportedly captured an unknown individual wearing a balaclava who entered the company's premises over a fence. An abandoned rucksack and a long-sleeved top were subsequently found near the factory.

The Internal Security Agency and military counterintelligence were notified of the incident, and police have opened an investigation.

The fire service said the fire was relatively small and was extinguished within two hours. Internal Security Agency officers then arrived at the scene.

"In the case of fires like this, the special services do what they are supposed to do. We take this situation very seriously… We caution against the temptation to spread any disinformation about this. Internal Security Agency officers are working meticulously to determine whether there are grounds to speak of sabotage," said Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the minister-coordinator for special services.
