Quote: "Overall, 12 people were killed, among them an Indian citizen, and dozens more were injured in the attack. My condolences to everyone who has lost family and loved ones."

Details: Zelenskyy noted that efforts to deal with the aftermath of the Russian attack have been ongoing since the night in many cities and districts, with almost 350 rescue workers deployed in the city of Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast alone.

A significant number of jet-powered drones and ballistic missiles were used in the attack. Residential and civilian infrastructure was damaged.

An ordinary five-storey residential building was damaged in the city of Boryspil, Kyiv Oblast. Fifty people have been evacuated. Emergency services are working at the scene. Businesses were also struck. Overall, four people were killed and 13 injured in the city.

Russian forces attacked Odesa and the surrounding region with guided aerial bombs and drones from the evening onwards. Thousands of households were left without electricity, and work is underway to restore power as quickly as possible.

A border crossing point on the Romanian border was deliberately damaged, as was export infrastructure. Seven people were killed in Kyiv in a strike on a railway depot. Kherson, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts also came under attack.

Quote: "Russia always plans its strikes specifically to cause as much destruction to people's lives as possible, and it succeeds only when air defence capabilities are insufficient. I am grateful to everyone helping Ukraine receive anti-ballistic capabilities through PURL and bilateral supplies, and it is very important that these deliveries increase this autumn. The number of victims of Russian terror directly hinges on every new package of assistance."

Background: On the night of 31 August-1 September, Russia attacked Ukraine with Iskander-M/KN-23/S-400 ballistic missiles, Zircon anti-ship missiles, Kalibr cruise missiles, Kh-31P anti-radiation missiles, Banderol missile drones and 218 UAVs of various types. Strikes were recorded at 28 locations. Ukrainian air defence downed 199 Russian aerial assets.
