Seven people killed as Russian strike hits Ukrzaliznytsia railway depot in Kyiv

Russian forces struck a railway depot and other railway infrastructure facilities in the city of Kyiv with ballistic missiles on the night of 31 August-1 September, killing seven people, including six Ukrzaliznytsia employees, and injuring others.

Quote from Pertsovskyi: "Overnight ballistic strikes on Kyiv have deliberately targeted a railway depot and other railway facilities.

The ballistic strike claimed the lives of seven people, including six of our employees. One colleague is in hospital with injuries, with our people nearby providing all the necessary assistance. Dozens managed to reach shelters in time and we are helping them recover."

Details: Pertsovskyi said there is extensive damage, including a workshop that had been completely destroyed.

He added that firefighters are still dealing with several fires.

Rail traffic on two sections had been suspended but has since resumed.

Ukrzaliznytsia said it is currently working to deal with the aftermath and restore the damaged infrastructure.
