Shahed drone that struck Security Service building may have been guided via repeater within 5 km

Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov, an adviser to the Ukrainian president, believes that the drone that struck the building of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) in central Kyiv on 4 September was guided via a repeater that a Russian agent activated within a 5-km radius.

Quote: "My personal opinion: the Shahed was controlled and guided online via a Mesh radio repeater with internet access, which a Russian agent switched on somewhere nearby (within 5 km) for a short period during the attack.

Such a repeater is about half the size of a school backpack."

Details: Beskrestnov added that there were no other Shaheds in the air at the time. Therefore, control via a chain from Russia was impossible.

Background:

• On 4 September, a Russian drone struck the office of Oleksandr Poklad, acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine, in the SSU building in Kyiv. The general was not in his office at the time of the strike.
• Nine people were injured in Kyiv's Shevchenkivskyi district as a result of the Russian attack on 4 September. The drone struck the SSU building.
