German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has expressed dissatisfaction with the volume of orders from Ukraine placed with the German defence industry.

Details: Wadephul noted that Germany is the largest donor of financial and military support to Ukraine and that, therefore, German companies should "benefit from this". He added that he had raised the issue with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his recent visit to Kyiv.

Quote: "I also said this to Ukrainian President Zelenskyy during my latest visit. We stand by you, we support you. But I also have to explain this to German taxpayers, and the very least you can do is to ensure that the German defence industry is involved in all procurement measures.

At this point, we are not entirely satisfied with the volume of orders placed in Germany. We have therefore approached the Ukrainian government with a request to review this and ensure the situation improves."
