Ukrainian aircraft flying from Chernivtsi lands in Moldova – video

A Ukrainian Antonov An-32 aircraft flew over the Moldovan city of Bălți at an altitude of around 1,350 m on Tuesday 8 September before landing at Mărculești International Airport.

Details: Moldova's Civil Aviation Authority clarified that the flight from Chernivtsi to Mărculești had been conducted with all the necessary permits and approvals in accordance with existing procedures.

The flight was coordinated, in particular, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the flight plan was approved, the authority said. The flight documentation listed the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Ukraine's airspace has remained closed to civilian aviation since the very first day of Russia's full-scale invasion.

Mărculești Airport is located in north-eastern Moldova, around 30 km from the Ukrainian border. It is an airbase belonging to the Moldovan Air Force.

The aircraft based there include MiG-29 fighter jets. Ukraine asked Moldova to provide the jets at the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, but Moldova refused, citing concerns that Russia would view the move as a breach of its neutrality.
