Poland will not block the opening of clusters in Ukraine's EU accession negotiations, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has stated.

Details: Sikorski noted that Ukraine's EU accession negotiations will not be easy, just as they were not easy for Poland in their time.

"But Poland will not block the opening of negotiating clusters. This does not mean that their closure will come quickly, but Ukraine, in the view of the European Commission, is already ready for negotiations," Sikorski said.

"We also hope that Ukraine will complete the process of implementing the Association Agreement, including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area. You can be in the single market even before joining the EU," he added.

Commenting on the latest Russian attacks, Sikorski also stated that Russian terrorism has entered Europe.

"Ukraine and Poland will not allow Russia to dominate us. This will not happen, it will not return. We are also fighting for Ukraine to decide for itself who has the right to be in Ukraine, and not Putin," Sikorski said.

He stressed that Russian "bombardments literally a few hundred metres from the Polish border" affect the security of his people.

"Let this be final proof for everyone in my homeland that the security of Poland and Ukraine are inextricably linked and that showing solidarity with all of Ukraine, as well as with each Ukrainian individually – with those who live in Poland and those who want to enter Poland – is the building of solidarity between our peoples," the Polish foreign minister stressed.

"Russian terrorism is not just knocking on the door – it's inside the house," he said, noting that the hybrid war is being fought through kinetic means.

Background: On 1 September, Hungary once again refused to approve the screening results for clusters 2 and 3 for Ukraine, demanding that Kyiv take certain legislative steps regarding the Hungarian national minority.
