Netherlands to allocate extra €327mn for Ukraine's recovery by 2029

The Dutch government plans to allocate an additional €327 million for Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction in 2027-2029, draft 2027 budgets for foreign affairs, foreign trade and development cooperation submitted to parliament indicate.

Details: The documents state that the Netherlands has pledged to continue providing Ukraine with "unwavering political, military, and financial support in its fight against Russian aggression in the years to come", working with EU partners and NATO allies.

Between 2027 and 2029, the government plans to allocate an additional €327 million for recovery and repairs. This amount comes on top of €878 million already earmarked for non-military support during that period.

The statement said non-military support will be directed, among other things, towards repair and reconstruction of Ukraine's energy system and critical infrastructure, humanitarian assistance and support for the private sector.

"Global geopolitical relations are in flux. Europe – and the Netherlands – can come out of this stronger, but only if we step up our efforts. The government continues to work to promote our security, including through support for Ukraine. And to promote a stronger EU, we are focusing on enhancing competitiveness and modernising the EU budget," Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen said.
