US approves potential sale of more than US$2 billion in air defence equipment to Ukraine
The US Department of State has approved a possible sale of American air defence equipment to Ukraine worth US$2.68 billion.

Quote: "The US Department of State has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Ukraine for purchase of Air Defence Development Upgrades and related equipment and services. The estimated total cost is US$2.68 billion."
Details: If the deal is concluded, Ukraine will finance the purchase using European contributions and funds from the US Foreign Military Financing (FMF) programme allocated under the previous US administration.
The FMF funds will be counted as a US contribution to the US-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund on a 1:1 reimbursement basis.
Ukraine requested the purchase of the following weapons, which are not classified as major defence equipment:
- S-300 Clone missiles
- GAM-67 missiles
- Range-Extended Air Defence Laser Guided Rocket missile systems
- Improvised Transporter Erector Launcher 1.5
- mobile launching system modification kits
- RPS 202 counter-Unmanned Aircraft System radars, among other equipment.
Background: On 19 September, US President Donald Trump signed a bill strengthening sanctions against Russia, co-authored by the late Senator Lindsey Graham.
