Moscow mayor reports largest-ever drone attack on Russian capital

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has said that the Russian capital has come under its largest drone attack to date. He claimed that 450 drones had been shot down as they approached Moscow, although several drones reached the grounds of the Moscow Oil Refinery.

Details: Sobyanin claimed that since 19 September, Russian air defence has intercepted more than 1,600 drones at various locations, 450 of which were approaching Moscow.

Meanwhile, the mayor acknowledged that several drones reached the grounds of the Moscow Oil Refinery, while another hit a residential building. He said there were no casualties.

Sobyanin also claimed that the attack was intended to disrupt the elections in Russia. He provided no evidence to support this claim.

Russia's Ministry of Defence, meanwhile, claimed that overnight alone it had intercepted and destroyed 1,110 Ukrainian drones over various Russian regions, occupied Crimea and the Black Sea.
