Trump says he will discuss Graham Act with China's leader

US President Donald Trump has said he will discuss the Graham Act, which includes provisions for sanctions on Russia and punitive tariffs on buyers of Russian energy, with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

Details: Trump said the Graham Act, which he has recently signed into law, is "very tough".

Asked about the potential impact of the law on China, as the country is the largest buyer of Russian oil and gas, Trump said he will discuss the issue during his meeting with the Chinese leader.

"I'll probably talk about… We're going to talk about a lot. It's going to be a great meeting and we're going to have a… look, we have a very good relationship," he noted.

Previously: Chinese leader Xi Jinping will visit the US for a state visit from 23 to 25 September at Trump's invitation, marking his first such visit in more than 10 years.

• On 18 September, Trump signed the Russia sanctions bill, which was co-authored by the late Senator Lindsey Graham. Among other measures, the law provides for tariffs of up to 100% on countries that are the largest buyers of Russian energy resources.
