Drone wreckage with camera found in Moldova, likely Russian Gerbera – photos

Police in Moldova's Florești district have discovered the wreckage of a UAV resembling a Russian Gerbera drone. The drone was equipped with a built-in camera.

Details: Experts from the Moldovan police's technical and explosives unit said the drone found in Florești district has characteristics consistent with the Gerbera model used by Russia.

The police also noted that this is the first time a drone equipped with a built-in camera has been discovered in Moldova.

Experts established that the drone collided with a tree before falling to the ground and exploding.

Police are continuing their investigation to establish the drone's exact model, manufacturer and technical specifications, as well as all the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The exact identification of the UAV will be confirmed following a specialised forensic examination.

• Moldovan President Maia Sandu responded to the Russian attack on Ukrainian regions on 24 September, during which drones entered Moldovan airspace several times. She said that four Russian drones had violated Moldova's airspace that morning and that "at least one of them exploded in the north of the country".
• Romania also scrambled fighter jets on the night of 23-24 September due to drones near the Ukrainian-Romanian border. It later emerged that a drone had crashed in Suceava County, prompting local authorities to suspend classes at schools in the area.
