Explosions heard in Russia's Ulyanovsk and Perm: factory and oil refinery targeted – photos, videos

Explosions were heard in the Russian cities of Ulyanovsk and Perm on the night of 24-25 September. A factory and an oil refinery have come under attack.

Details: Eyewitnesses reported that the Iskra plant in Ulyanovsk, part of the Russia Almaz-Antey Corporation which is involved in the production of weapons and air defence systems, was hit.

The plant is directly involved in import substitution programmes for Russia's defence industry and aerospace sector.

The company had also previously expanded its production capacity by opening a new large-scale facility for the manufacture of digital units and microwave modules for radar systems.

Meanwhile, Lukoil's Perm oil refinery was hit. The facility processes more than 13 million tonnes of oil every year, making it one of Russia's largest oil refineries. It produces a wide range of petroleum products, including petrol, diesel and jet fuel.
