Ukrainian air defence has downed 86 Russian UAVs since morning, but strikes recorded at 26 locations

Russian forces have been attacking Ukraine with strike drones since early morning, most of them jet-powered. Some of the UAVs have been downed, while dozens of drones are still in Ukrainian airspace.

Quote: "On 28 September (from 06:30 to 16:30), the enemy continued to attack Ukraine with Shahed-type strike UAVs, most of them jet-powered. As of 16:30, more than 100 strike UAVs of various types had been detected, a significant number of them heading towards Kyiv. So far, air defence has managed to shoot down more than 40 jet-powered UAVs, but dozens of drones are still in the air."

Details: Strike UAVs have hit infrastructure, civilian facilities and residential buildings in various regions of Ukraine.

In particular, the Air Force recalled that jet-powered UAVs struck the National Academy of Sciences building and the Dobrobut medical centre in Kyiv.

Update at 18:35: The Air Force reported that as of 18:30, the Russians had attacked Ukraine with 124 strike UAVs (86 of them jet-powered), including Gerbera, Banderol/Dan-T and other types.

The main target of the attack was Kyiv Oblast. Early reports indicate that since 06:30, air defence has shot down or jammed 86 UAVs (49 of them jet-powered).
