Zelenskyy says Ukraine has approved long-range operations for October

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved Ukraine's long-range operations against Russia for October during a meeting with the Ministry of Defence and the military.

Quote: "Today, our military briefed me on our long-range capabilities – on the priorities for the near term and the operations we are preparing.

All of Ukraine's key long-range objectives are being carried out, and Russia's oil industry continues to feel the impact of Ukraine."

Background:

• On the night of 19-20 September, Ukraine launched a large-scale attack on Moscow and Moscow Oblast. A major fire broke out at the Sofyino logistics technopark. The Moscow Oil Refinery in the Kapotnya district also caught fire following the attack.
• Zelenskyy said that during the overnight attack on the Moscow region, the defence forces used a number of Ukrainian long-range weapons, including Flamingo, Palianytsia and Pelican.
• On 25 September, Russian ruler Vladimir Putin claimed that Ukraine attacked polling stations in Moscow on the night of 19-20 September.
• On 28 September, the Kremlin said Ukraine will have to "pay the price" for its actions in recent months and that Russian forces are already carrying out corresponding strikes.
