Moscow region attacked with multiple weapons, including Flamingo and Pelican, Zelenskyy says – video

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said the defence forces used a range of Ukrainian long-range weapons, including Flamingo, Palianytsia and Pelican, during the overnight attack on the Moscow region.

Details: Zelenskyy said one of Russia's key oil industry plants and a logistics facility in the Moscow region were hit.

The following weapons were used in the attack: FP-1, RZ-100, MICH-2000, Palianytsia, Vendetta, Liutyi, Bars, Flamingo, Sichen and Pelican.

According to Zelenskyy, the operation involved the Security Service of Ukraine, Unmanned Systems Forces, Special Operations Forces, Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

Zelenskyy also said that one of the facilities in Russia's Voronezh Oblast had been hit, without providing further details.

Background:

  • Earlier, a large-scale drone attack was reported over Moscow and Moscow Oblast. A major fire apparently broke out at the Sofyino logistics technopark and the oil refinery in Kapotnya.
  • The Moscow Oil Refinery in the Kapotnya district caught fire after a drone attack. A strike reportedly hit the AVT-6 unit.
  • Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that the Russian capital had come under its largest drone attack to date.
