Pentagon disburses nearly US$400m in aid to Ukraine just before fiscal year-end
Senator Chris Coons, a Democrat from Delaware, reported on 29 September, a day before the end of the financial year, that the Pentagon has obligated 99.8% of the US$400 million that Congress had allocated for aid to Ukraine.

Details: The funds were obligated before the end of the financial year on Wednesday 30 September. The department has obligated US$307 million and plans to commit the remaining US$93 million by the 30 September deadline.
The Pentagon's plan includes US$200 million for weapons, ammunition and explosives, US$99.9 million for vehicles, spare parts and equipment, and US$100 million for services such as transporting military equipment.
Background:
- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the allocation of US$400 million in military aid to Ukraine, which Congress had already approved, back in June 2026. Representatives from both parties had been pressing the Pentagon for months to release the funds.
- Recently, the Trump administration made legally binding commitments to spend almost all of the US$400 million in military aid to Ukraine that Congress approved at the end of 2025. However, the package will not include missiles for Patriot systems.
