Details: Fico said it would be "dangerous" to link negotiations on the EU's future budget to financing for Ukraine.

He said Slovakia wanted to support Ukraine in other ways, such as through projects in education, road infrastructure and energy interconnections, but would not participate in another potential EU loan.

Fico said Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar shared this position.

Nevertheless, Fico criticised what he saw as insufficient discussion of peace initiatives and ways to end Russia's war against Ukraine at the EU summit in Brussels on Thursday and Friday.

The Slovak prime minister also reiterated that it would be "dangerous" to link negotiations on the EU's future budget to financing for Ukraine.
