Ukraine has brought back seven Ukrainian civilians from Russia, handing over seven civilians to the aggressor state in return.

Quote from Lubinets: "Thanks to my humanitarian communication channel with Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova, we were able to reach agreements on the mutual exchange of civilians. Seven Ukrainians were brought back to territory controlled by Ukraine, and seven travelled to Russia as part of family reunification efforts supported by the ICRC."

Details: Lubinets said that among those who are finally home are a 90-year-old woman with limited mobility and a 50-year-old Ukrainian woman who had suffered a myocardial infarction and a stroke and has other medical conditions. Both women's health conditions were taken into account when their return was organised and the transport arrangements were made accordingly.

The return of a young woman and her child was also arranged. The woman had been staying in Mariupol when the full-scale invasion began and was unable to return to her family due to the hostilities and the subsequent occupation of the city. Her return to Ukrainian-controlled territory was significantly hampered by having to obtain the required documentation for her child. Both of them are now in need of psychological support.
