Quote: "I know that the Russian side, Ombudswoman Lantratova, also held a press conference today and formally approached Melania Trump with a proposal to organise similar humanitarian missions in other settlements.
I now want to do exactly the same. This is a proposal we have developed together. We are both approaching Melania Trump to extend this successful practice to other settlements, not just those in Kherson Oblast."
Background:
- Melania Trump said that nearly 800 people had been evacuated during a humanitarian mission carried out during the ceasefire in Oleshky, Kherson Oblast.
- Lubinets said that, under the agreements with the Russian side, Ukrainian authorities would not disclose how many Oleshky residents chose to return to Ukraine or went to Russian-controlled territory.
- Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for Russian ruler Vladimir Putin, has said that Moscow currently has no plans to conduct further "humanitarian operations" similar to the evacuation from temporarily occupied Oleshky.
