Ukraine-Russia negotiations have ended - media

Negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations, which lasted for around 3 hours in Istanbul, have come to an end.

According to the Anadolu Agency: "The meeting between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations has ended at the Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul."

Background

  • Ukraine and Russia negotiating teams met in Istanbul on 29 March, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressing them and calling for a truce.
  • Mykhaylo Podoliak, adviser to the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, said at an interim briefing in Turkey that the sides were discussing an international security guarantee agreement for Ukraine, a ceasefire and the resolution of humanitarian issues on Ukrainian territory.

The first three rounds of talks between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations took place in person in Belarus on 28 February, 3 March and 7 March; subsequently the delegations have been continuously working on peace proposals by video link.
