Russian strategic bombers were deployed to execute a rocket strike on the Vinnytsya airfield from the waters of the Black Sea.

According to Ignat: "The Vinnytsya airfield was struck from the south. According to the updated information, it was struck from the Black Sea with strategic missile bombers Tu-95 MS or Tu-160.

Eight long-range missiles were launched, probably X-101s, which have a range of up to 5,500 km."

Details: A spokesman for the Armed Forces of Ukraine reminded that Vinnytsya has a joint airfield operated by both the military and civilians.

The runway of the airfield has been under reconstruction for a long time, so there were no aircraft at the airfield.

The number of civilian and military casualties is being assessed.

Background: 8 missiles were launched by Russian forces at a military facility in Havryshivka, near Vinnytsya on 6 March.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Vinnytsya airport was completely destroyed.

According to the State Emergency Services, a fire broke out in a fuel and lubricants warehouse at the airfield. In addition, the administrative building was destroyed. Rescuers dug four people out from the rubble, one of the four did not make it.
