Details: Recent telephone conversations intercepted by the Security Service of Ukraine confirm this information.

"This is our guys firing," one Russian soldier in the Donetsk region, who received this information from his commander, explained to his wife.

When his wife asked him "Why would this be done?" he said "This has to be done. It’s done so that it looks like the Ukrainians are provoking us. That’s why [the village] was hit."

According to the Russian soldier: "The same s**t was happening in the Chechen war. Apartments were blown up in Russia, to make it seem as though it was the terrorists that did it. But it was the FSB [Russian Federal Security Service]. Right now they [Ukrainian troops] would never have been able to reach Klimovo from their positions."

Details: The soldier added that he was planning to write a refusal to participate any further in hostilities in Ukraine.

Background:

  • The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation reported that on 14 April, the border checkpoint in the Briansk region was shelled by Ukraine; 2 cars were damaged in the shelling but there were no casualties.
  • By noon that day, the information had changed: it turned out that "2 houses" in the village of Klimovo had been shelled. The Russians said 7 people were injured, including a "pregnant woman and a child."
  • The Centre for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine explained that Russia’s special services have begun implementing a plan to carry out terrorist attacks on Russia’s territory to fuel anti-Ukrainian hysteria.
