Mariupol Mayor: Men in Mariupol starved and forced to work

Roman Petrenko – Tuesday, 26 April 2022, 12:11

Russian troops in Mariupol deny men food unless they partake in organised labour, such as clearing away rubble and digging mass graves.

According to Andriushchenko: "The humanitarian situation remains difficult. Despite the ‘banya’ the Russians claimed to open and the endless propaganda about the availability of food and water, there is a catastrophic deficit of food [in the city]. Moreover, the occupiers have adopted the shameful practice of only giving food to men if they partake in organised labour.

As a result, the men are forced to clear away rubble and dig mass graves literally to avoid starving to death. I’m not exaggerating."

Details: Andriushchenko added that medical aid was not available in Mariupol.
