Boundless cynicism: Russia does not acknowledge any killings of civilians in Bucha

The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation does not admit that atrocities were committed by its military in Bucha, Kyiv region, and insists that no local residents suffered from violence during the occupation of the city.

Details: The aggressor country's defence ministry referred to photos and videos published in Ukraine which testify to the crimes of the Russian occupiers in Bucha as "provocation".

The ministry claims that all units of the Russian Armed Forces withdrew completely from Bucha on 30 March, and that evidence of their crimes allegedly appeared only on the 4th day after that, when the Security Service of Ukraine and representatives of Ukrainian TV arrived in the city.

Background: On 1 April, the Mayor of Bucha, Anatoly Fedoruk, announced the liberation of the city from the Russian occupiers.

After that, information began to come out about the atrocities committed by the Russian military in the occupied city. In particular, Mayor Fedoruk said that a mass grave had been found in the city, where almost 300 people were buried, and that dozens of corpses lay in the streets, some of them with their hands tied.Bodies of naked women were also found on the city streets.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said the Russian military had deliberately killed civilians in Bucha.

Mykhailo Podoliak, an advisor to the head of the Office of the President, showed photo evidence of the atrocities committed by the Russian occupiers in the Kyiv region and spoke harshly to European partners who do not dare to resolutely oppose Russia.

Due to the atrocities committed by the Russian occupiers in Bucha, President Volodymyr Zelensky rebuked NATO for delaying Ukraine's invitation to join the Alliance and harshly addressed Russian mothers.
