Odesa Oblast threatened as Russia deploys air defence systems and MLRS on Zmiinyi (Snake) Island – Pivden (South) Operational Command

Russia has deployed anti-aircraft missile systems and multiple launch rocket systems on Zmiinyi [Snake] Island and has deployed two ships equipped with Kalibr missiles in the Black Sea, likely in an attempt to protect the Russian ships in the area. These actions also create a threat of missile strikes on Odesa Oblast.

Details: As noted, there is currently no evidence that Russia might be preparing a landing operation. However, according to Pivden [South] Operational Command, the Russian occupation forces might attempt to land sabotage and reconnaissance groups on the shore or at the mouth of the Danube. The Operational Command does not rule out the possibility of demonstrative fire on coastal areas of Ukraine.

A grouping of Russian ships continues to block all shipping in the Black and Azov seas.

Two Russian naval mines were de-anchored in a storm on 31 May; one of them washed up on the  sloping, sandy shore of Odesa Oblast. Both mines were defused by the specialists from the explosives detachment of the Naval Forces.
