Russia ramps up airstrikes on Donbas – General Staff report

Russian occupying forces have ramped up airstrikes on Ukrainian troops on several fronts in Donbas.

On the Bakhmut front, the enemy conducted airstrikes in and around Berestove, Yakovlivka, Klynove and Vershyna, as well as air and missile strikes near Chasiv Yar, Novoluhanske, and Hirske.

The enemy conducted airstrikes near Novobakhmutivka, Kamianka, Avdiivka, Pavlivka, Vuhledar and Shevchenko."

Details: Russian occupying forces did not undertake active combat operations on the Kramatorsk front, but fired on positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area around Pryshyb, Sydorove, Donetske and Maiaky with tube artillery.

Ukrainian defenders repelled a Russian assault near Novobakhmutivka and forced Russian troops to retreat.

The situation on the Avdiivka, Kurakhove, Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia fronts remains unchanged. Russian forces continue to systematically fire on units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in order to prevent their transfer to other, more active, fronts.

On the Pivdennyi Buh front, Russian forces are performing combat engineering tasks and firing on Ukrainian troops with tube and rocket artillery in order to prevent their advance further into Russian-occupied territories of Kherson Oblast.

Russian forces are conducting combat operations to the north of Kharkiv in order to prevent Ukrainian troops from advancing to the state border of Ukraine. In addition to bombarding the city of Kharkiv, Russian forces also opened fire on Bairak, Peremoha, Korobochkyne, Shevelivka, Rubizhne, Lebiazhe, Mospanove, Shestakove, Petrivka, Ruska Lozova, Khrestyshche, Kulynychi, Udy, Staryi Saltiv, Verkhnii Saltiv, Pytomnyk, Rtyshchivka and Pechenihy.

On the Slobozhanshchyna front, Russian occupying forces conducted assault operations in an attempt to improve the tactical positions of their units near Sloviansk. The Russians fired on Bohorodychne, Nova Dmytrivka, Novopavlivka, Kurulka, Dolyna, Pryshyb, Krasnopillia, Virnopillia, Ridne, Chervone, Shnurky, Chervona Poliana, Karnaukhivka, Velyka Komyshuvakha, Nova Dmytrivka and Semylanne with tube and rocket artillery.

There were no significant changes on the Volyn, Polissia and Sivershchyna fronts. Russian forces fired on Turia, Myropillia and Slavhorod with tube artillery.

Background:

  • As of the morning of 22 June, Russian losses since the beginning of its full-scale military invasion in Ukraine comprise approximately 34,230 military personnel, 3,614 armoured combat vehicles, 99 air defence systems, 614 UAVs, and over 2,500 pieces of special automobile equipment and fuel trucks.
  • The UK Ministry of Defence predicts that Russia will attempt to deploy a large number of reserve units to Donbas in the near future.
