"The problem is not Yermak. There are problems in your country that are not being solved. And when I ask why they are not being solved, our people tell me that it is because of Yermak. That is why it arose," she said.

The congresswoman later explained that she and many other Republicans and Democrats are concerned about how the American funds provided to Ukraine are spent, "because now there is no system that allows us to check it."

"It's important to me so that what we supply to you goes where it needs to go, and your military gets it... I'm not going to cover the details, because if I do, Russia will do such propaganda that you're going to have problems," Spartz noted.

She stated that she "met with almost every head of the administration and parliament" of Ukraine in order to present proposals for a possible system of monitoring the use of US aid, "but your side [the administration in Kyiv] did not agree to this."

"And the last time when I came, they were even against meeting me," she added.

Spartz justified her appeal to Joe Biden precisely because of the "Russian connections" of Yermak – due to the claim that it was because of him that problems arose in the work of anti-corruption institutions.

"If we don't have the ability to audit, if we don't know what happens to our security support, that is, weapons, once they cross the border! . . . And we don't know what is happening with it because we don't have people in Ukraine... It could be in Syria, It could be in Russia," the congresswoman claims.

"So we proposed to you an idea on how to do it (supervision with support), in order to create unnecessary bureaucracy and the supply went to the front. I will not reveal the details of this proposal, but your government rejected it and I was told that it was because of Mr Yermak," she added.
