Details: The Parliament also endorsed the approval of the decree to continue mobilisation.

Previously: Draft laws approving two of the President’s orders (No. 7664 "On extending the validity of martial law in Ukraine" and No. 7665 "On extending the validity of general mobilisation") were submitted to the Parliament on 12 August.

Background:

  • Martial law was introduced in Ukraine on the first day of the full-scale Russian invasion, 24 February 2022, though the war has been going on for the past eight years without being officially announced.
  • The Verkhovna Rada has already extended martial law twice, by 30 days each time. On 22 May, martial law was extended by another 90 days, until 23 August. The same holds for general mobilisation.
