Kuleba heads to Sweden and Czech Republic to increase pressure on Russia

On behalf of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba will visit Sweden and the Czech Republic next week to consolidate international support for Ukraine and increase the sanction pressure on Russia.

Kuleba will arrive in Stockholm on 29 August, where he will be hosted by Magdalena Andersson, the Prime Minister of Sweden. The Ukrainian official will also hold talks with Ann Linde, his Swedish counterpart, and meet with the leaders of the Riksdag (Swedish Parliament) and Swedish political parties.

The main topics of the discussion will be countering Russian aggression; further military, financial and humanitarian support for Ukraine; the country's path to EU membership; and the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

In Prague, Dmytro Kuleba will take part in an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers on 30-31 August; key topics will be visa restrictions for Russian citizens and the eighth EU sanctions package against Russia.

The minister will separately hold a number of bilateral meetings with colleagues from the Czech Republic, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Georgia, Moldova and Cyprus. He will also participate in the International Conference Forum 2000 "Current challenges for democracy: what should be our response?"

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister will hold bilateral meetings with Czech high-ranking officials, Milos Vystrcil, President of the Senate of the Czech Republic and Marketa Pekarova Adamova, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies.

At an informal meeting in Prague on August 30-31, Foreign Ministers of the European Union member states are preparing to support the suspension of the agreement on the simplified issuance of visas for Russian citizens.
