Quote from Shoigu: "Russia has a large mobilisation resource. A total of 300,000 reservists will be called up during the partial mobilisation."

Details: At the same time, Shoigu said that Ukraine had already lost "half of its army"; meanwhile, Russia has allegedly [lost] only 5,937 people.

"The very line of contact, you can also call it either a front line or contact line, is more than 1,000 kilometres long. Naturally, whatever lies behind it and whatever is located along that line, these areas need to be controlled. And, of course, this is the primary reason why this work - I mean, partial mobilisation - is being conducted".

Previously: In a morning address to Russians, President Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilisation.

The Ukrainian General Staff reported on Wednesday that 55,110 Russian servicemen have been killed since 24 February.
