Zelenskyy convenes meeting of Staff of Supreme Commander to discuss mobilisation in Russia and sham referendums

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine convened another meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander on Thursday, 22 September.

Quote from Zelenskyy: "Heads of [the Ukrainian] defence forces [a collective term designating all forces responsible for Ukraine’s defence - ed.] and commanders [in charge of forces on different] operational fronts reported the operational situation on the front. The enemy’s likely course of action in the near term has been discussed.

Members of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief have also discussed whether [Ukraine’s] defence forces have sufficient supplies of weapons and munitions."

Details: The meeting was attended by Oleksii Reznikov, Minister of Defence of Ukraine; Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Chief Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine; Denys Monastyrskyi, Minister of Internal Affairs; Dmytro Kuleba, Minister for Foreign Affairs; Oleksandr Kubrakov, Minister of Infrastructure; heads of law enforcement agencies; Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine; Oleksii Danilov, Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine; and others.

Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces; Serhii Litvinov, Commander of the Zakhid (West) Operational Command Forces; and Andrii Kovalchuk, Commander of the Pivden (South) Operational Command Forces have all joined the meeting via video conference.

The presidential website notes that the meeting attendees devoted particular attention to the steps that will be taken in response to new challenges related to the announcement of mobilisation in Russia and to the sham referendums on the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
