Russians are advancing on two fronts and preparing defensive positions in Kherson Oblast – General Staff

Russian troops carried out 15 missile strikes on Ukraine over the past day. They are conducting offensive operations on the Bakhmut and Avdiivka fronts. The Russians are also setting up defensive positions by placing mines along the left bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast.

Quote: "The enemy is trying to hold the temporarily occupied territories and improve their tactical positions, focusing on deterring the actions of the [Ukrainian] defence forces on certain fronts, and at the same time, it is conducting offensive actions on the Bakhmut and Avdiivka fronts.

Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian defence forces repelled Russian attacks around the settlements of Bilohorivka (Luhansk Oblast), Bakhmut, Bilohorivka, Verkhniokamianske, Ivanhrad, Klishchiivka, Spirne, Soledar, Mariinka and Nevelske (Donetsk Oblast).

The enemy is attacking the positions of our armed forces along the line of contact and conducting aerial reconnaissance."

Details: Over the past day, the Russians launched missile and air strikes on the infrastructure and civilian homes in violation of international humanitarian law and the laws and customs of war.

The Russians carried out a total of 3 missile and 12 air strikes during the previous day. They carried out more than 60 attacks from multiple-launch rocket systems.

Russian forces hit civilian infrastructure facilities in the settlements of Vuhledar and Neskuchne in Donetsk Oblast, Nova Kamianka in Kherson Oblast, and the city of Mykolaiv.

The situation on the Volyn and Polissia fronts remains unchanged. There is a continuing threat of missile and air strikes on the critical infrastructure of Ukraine from the territory of the Republic of Belarus, these also may include the use of  Iranian-made attack UAVs.

On other fronts, the Russians carried out attacks: 

• on the Sivershchyna front: from mortars and tubed artillery; on areas in and around Senkivka in Chernihiv Oblast and Rozhkovychi, Sosnivka and Velyka Pysarivka in Sumy Oblast;
• on the Slobozhanshchyna front: from tanks, mortars, tubed and rocket artillery; on areas in and around the settlements of Veterynarne, Vilkhuvatka, Vovchansk, Dvorichna, Kamianka, Krasne, Starytsia, Strilecha, Khatnie and Chuhunivka in Kharkiv Oblast;
• on the Kupiansk and Lyman fronts: from tanks and artillery, on areas in and around the settlements of Kyslivka in Kharkiv Oblast; Nevske and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk Oblast; Berestove, Zarichne, Terny, Torske and Yampolivka in Donetsk Oblast;
• on the Bakhmut front: from tanks, mortars, tubed and rocket artillery; on areas in and around Andriivka, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Bilohorivka, Vesele, Ivanhrad, Kurdiumivka, Mayorsk, Opytne, Soledar and Yakovlivka in Donetsk Oblast;
• on the Avdiivka front: from tanks and artillery; on areas in and around the settlements of Vodiane, Krasnohorivka, Mariinka, and Pervomaiske;
• on the Novopavlivsk and Zaporizhzhia fronts: from tanks, mortars, tubed and rocket artillery; on areas in and around the settlements of Vremivka, Vuhledar, Neskuchne, Novosilka, Pavlivka in Donetsk Oblast; Zelenyi Hai, Novoandriivka, Olhivske, Stepove, Chervone and Shcherbaky in Zaporizhia Oblast;
• on the Pivdennyi Buh front, the Russians fired at more than 20 settlements near the line of contact, including Bilohirka, Davydiv Brid, Myrne, Sukhyi Stavok and Ternovi Pody.

According to available information, the Russian invaders are setting up defensive positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast. Thus, engineer and sapper units of the Russian occupation troops are placing mines along the bank near the settlement of Hornostaivka, leaving small pathways for the possible retreat of their troops from the right bank.

Evacuation of local residents from temporarily occupied Kherson is underway. The equipment and employees of all banks and the occupation administration have been evacuated from the right bank of the city to the settlements of Henichesk and Skadovsk. The equipment of Internet providers was stolen. Emergency services and medical personnel are forcibly evacuated.

School funding and the provision of food for children in schools has been stopped. The cases of robberies of local residents and looting have increased.

Recently conscripted Russian servicemen are being transferred to the settlement of Lvove to replace the evacuated collaborators. 

According to the updated information, five pieces of weapons and military equipment have been destroyed and up to 110 Russian occupiers have been killed in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts in recent days.

The Ukrainian Air Force carried out more than 30 strikes during the past day. Twenty-two clusters of weapons and military equipment of the invaders, five ammunition storage points and positions of nine anti-aircraft missile systems are confirmed to have been destroyed. Ukrainian air defence units shot down three Ka-52 Alligator helicopters, a Su-24M bomber, two Orlan-10 UAVs and a Shahed-131 UAV of the occupiers on various fronts.

Over the past day, Rocket Forces and Artillery hit six clusters of manpower, weapons and military equipment, two ammunition storage points, an anti-aircraft missile system, a Zoopark-1 radar station, and two other important sites used by the Russian occupiers.
