Russians evacuate prisoners from Kherson correctional facility to free up space to house Russian soldiers – General Staff report

Russian occupation forces have evacuated prisoners from Correctional Facility No. 90 in the city of Kherson and are now using the facility as lodging for Russian soldiers and a base for their military equipment.

Details: Russian forces are preparing to defend their positions in towns and villages in the vicinity of the city of Kherson. About a hundred Russian National Guard soldiers arrived in Kalanchak from Grozny.

Russian forces carried out 23 airstrikes and 5 missile strikes, as well as over 100 attacks using multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS). More than 45 Ukrainian cities, towns and villages came under Russian fire, including Siversk and Sloviansk (Donetsk Oblast), Zaporizhzhia (Zaporizhzhia Oblast) and Novooleksandrivka (Kherson Oblast).

There were no significant changes on the Volyn and Polissia fronts. Russia is continuing to deploy units of its forces to the Republic of Belarus. A freight train carrying military equipment from the Russian Federation arrived at Brest railway station on 26 October. Kadyrovites, the Chechen forces subordinated to Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov and fighting as part of the Russian army, are arriving alongside other soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Russian military personnel have been spotted in towns and villages in between the cities of Brest and Malaryta.

There is an ongoing threat of missile strikes from the territory of Belarus, including with the use of attack UAVs.

On other fronts, the Russians continued to fire on military and civilian targets:

  • On the Sivershchyna front: Russian forces deployed mortars and tubed artillery to fire on areas in and around Rozhkovychi, Budky, Mezenivka, Fotovyzh and Myropillia (Sumy Oblast);
  • On the Slobozhanshchyna front: Russian forces deployed tank guns, mortars and tubed and rocket artillery to fire on areas in and around Ternova, Vovchansk, Veterynarne, Vilkhuvatka, Hatyshche, Hryhorivka, Kamianka, Fyholivka, Dvorichna, Starytsia, Ohirtseve, Strilecha and Chuhunivka;
  • On the Kupiansk and Lyman fronts: Russian forces deployed various types of artillery to fire on areas in and around Kyslivka, Krokhmalne, Hrekivka, Zarichne, Novoiehorivka, Berestove, Nevske, Olhivka, Terny, Torske and Yampolivka;
  • On the Bakhmut front: the Russians deployed tank and artillery of various calibres to fire on areas in and around Andriivka, Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Bilohorivka, Vesele, Zvanicka, Siversk, Zelenopillia, Soledar, Odradivka, Opytne, New-York, Vasiukivka, Serebrianka and Yakovlivka;
  • On the Avdiivka front: the Russians deployed tank guns, mortars and tubed and rocket artillery to fire on areas in the vicinity of Avdiivka, Nevelske, Vesele, Vodiane, Marinka, Novomykhailivka, Pervomaiske and Opytne;
  • On the Novopavlivka front: the Russians deployed tank guns and rocket artillery to fire on areas in and around Vremivka, Vuhledar, Yehorivka, Mykilske, Novoukrainka, Pavlivka and Prechystivka;
  • On the Zaporizhzhia front: Russian forces fired on areas in the vicinity of Huliaipole, Nove, Dorozhnianka, Zaliznychne, Zelenyi Hai, Temyrivka, Olhivske and Chervone;
  • On the Pivdennyi Buh front, around 20 cities, towns and villages situated along the line of contact came under Russian fire. Nikopol and Vyshchetarasivka (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast) and Havrylivka (Kherson Oblast) sustained damage as a result of Russian attacks.

Russian forces are continuing their attempts to advance on the Bakhmut and Avdiivka fronts.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have repelled Russian attacks in the vicinity of Yakovlivka, Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Oleksandropil, Kamianka, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, Krasnohorivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk Oblast).

On 29 October, Ukrainian aircraft carried out 32 airstrikes, including 23 on clusters of Russian military personnel, weapons and equipment; 3 on platoon strong points and 6 on anti-aircraft defence systems. In addition, Ukrainian air defence forces struck down a Russian Iskander-K missile and 2 Orlan-10 UAVs. Ukraine’s Rocket Forces and Artillery struck 6 areas where Russian weapons and military equipment were concentrated, 3 ammunition storage points, 2 anti-aircraft defence systems and 9 other crucial military targets.
