300 injured prisoners Russia conscripted hospitalised in Luhansk Oblast – General Staff report

Around 300 Russian prisoners who had been conscripted to fight in the war in Ukraine have been hospitalised in Novosvitlivka in Luhansk Oblast.

Details: The General Staff reported on 7 October that 500 recently conscripted criminal offenders have been deployed to reinforce the Russian army in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk Oblast.

Around 85 Russian soldiers were injured as a result of the Ukrainian forces’ attacks near Polohy and Tokmak in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Information about Russia’s losses has yet to be confirmed.

Over the course of the past 24 hours, Russian forces carried out 7 missile strikes and 12 airstrikes, as well as around 80 attacks using multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS).

More than 20 Ukrainian cities, towns and villages came under Russian fire, including Slavhorod, Bilovody, Vuhledar, Ridkodub, Huliaipilske, Novoandriivka, Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv. Four Iranian-made drones struck the cities of Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv.

There were no significant changes on the Volyn and Polissia fronts. On other fronts, the Russians continued to fire on military and civilian targets:

• On the Sivernshchyna front: the Russians used mortars and tubed artillery to fire on areas in an around Bleshnia, Hai and Senkivka (Chernihiv Oblast) and Starykove (Sumy Oblast;

• On the Slobozhanshchyna front: Russian forces used tanks, mortars and rocket artillery to fire on areas in and around 18 towns and villages, including Hlyboke, Udy, Ohirtseve, Strilecha, Kolodiazne, Dvorichne and Neskuchne;

• On the Kramatorsk front: Russian forces used all types of artillery to fire on areas in and around Spirne, Bilohorivka, Verkhnokamianske, Rozdolivka, Serebrianka, Hryhorivka, Dronivka and Vesele;

• On the Bakhmut front: areas in and around Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Ivanhrad, Opytne, Maiorsk, New-York, Vyimka, Rozdolivka, Vesele and Odradivka;

• On the Avdiivka front: Avdiivka, Krasnohorivka, Pervomaiske and Novomykhailivka;

• Russian forces did not undertake active combat operations on the Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia fronts; infrastructure targets in and around 16 cities, towns and villages, including Vremivka, Temyrivka, Olhivske, Huliaipilske and Zaliznychne, came under Russian fire;

• On the Pivdennyi Buh front, over 27 towns and villages in the vicinity of the line of contact came under Russian fire. Russian forces used tank guns, mortars and tubed and rocket artillery.

Over the course of the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled Russian attacks in the vicinity of Vyimka, Bakhmutske, Krasna Hora, Bakhmut, Maiorsk, Ozerianivka, Zaitseve, Odradivka, Andriivka, Pervomaiske, Krasnohorivka, Vesele, Kamianka, Pobieda, Nevelske, Novomykhailivka and Ternovi Pody.

In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed another Russian pontoon crossing on 7 October. Information about the destruction of Russian ammunition dumps near Kinski Rozdory on 5 October has been confirmed.

Ukrainian aircraft carried out 30 airstrikes, striking 24 areas of concentration of Russian military personnel and equipment and 6 anti-aircraft defence systems. In addition, Ukrainian air defence forces struck down 2 enemy helicopters, 5 Orlan-10 drones and 3 Shahed-136 drones. Ukraine’s Rocket Forces and Artillery struck 2 command posts, 1 area where Russian military personnel, weapons and equipment were concentrated, 2 artillery firing positions, a radar station and an electronic warfare system.

The General Staff also reported that Russian forces are attempting to discredit the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Russian journalists are involved in creating [and circulating] fakes about the Ukrainian forces.

In addition, it reported that local officials in several Russian regions are attempting to fulfil their mobilisation quotas by conscripting unemployed men of conscription age.
