Why this is important: Perhaps, the Russians are afraid of another explosion of the Kerch Bridge.

Background:

  • On 8 October, Russia reported that a lorry exploded and fuel tanks caught fire on the Kerch Bridge as a result. Two spans of the carriageway of the road from Krasnodar to Kerch have collapsed.
  • Sergey Aksyonov, the "head" of the occupation administration of Crimea, has claimed that the movement of cars and buses across the Crimean Bridge has resumed.
  • On 18 October, Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Chairman of the Government, announced during his speech at the State Duma that the movement of lorries weighing up to 40 tons is allowed through the Kerch Bridge.
