Why it is important: Prior to the full-scale invasion by Russia, the Kursk Vostochny (East) airfield was used for both civilian and military aviation.

Since February 24, it has been subject to a ban on civilian flights.

The 14th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment of the Russian Federation is deployed in the Kursk Vostochny. It mainly consists of Su-30CM multirole fighter jets.
