Ukrainian military reports group of Russian aircraft airborne

An air-raid siren has been sounded in Ukraine’s centre and north, and Vitalii Kim, Head of the Mykolaiv Oblast Military Administration, has reported that 17 Russian Tu strategic bombers are in the air.

Details: Yurii Ihnat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, has confirmed during a broadcast on Ukrainian Channel 24 that a group of Russian Tu 95 strategic bombers is now airborne.

It is unknown whether they will launch missiles, however their flight is being monitored.

Air-raid sirens have been sounded in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Cherkasy and Kirovohrad oblasts, as well as in Luhansk Oblast and Crimea.

Quote from Taburets: "The enemy is attacking the territory of Ukraine from the air once again.

In particular, using ballistic [missiles]. A massive missile strike is possible.

We expect large-scale air-raids starting from 12:00."

Quote from Starukh: "According to the information from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian Kalibr cruise missile carriers have been sent to sea; enemy bombers have taken off into the skies".

Updated: After 11:05 on 14 January, the sirens in all of the oblasts sounded the all-clear.
