Zelenskyy sanctions Russian propagandists and Ukrainian collaborators

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved a decision of the State Defence and Security Council of Ukraine to introduce sanctions against 198 people. The list includes Russian cultural figures and propagandists, as well as some Ukrainian citizens.

Details: The decision was made by the State Defence and Security Council of Ukraine on 15 January and enacted on the same day by a presidential decree.

The following Russian cultural figures are now are on the sanctions list: Dmitry Puchkov (aka Goblin), video game translator, voiceover actor and blogger; Nikolai Starikov, politician and writer; Vitaliy Tretyakov, journalist; Boris Yanovskiy, director and producer; Yana Rudkovskaya, TV presenter; Alexey Zemskiy, TV presenter and actor;  Maxim Dodonov, journalist and producer; Boris Korchevnikov, TV presenter; Mikhail Frolov, propagandist; Aleksandr Kolmakov, military leader; Sergey Sosedov, journalist and musical critic; Ekaterina Berezovskaya, TV presenter, Boris Rozhin, propagandist; Andrey Sokolov, actor and TV presenter; Viktor Yermakov, military leader; Dzhambolat Tedeyev, wrestler; Rostislav Ischenko, political analyst; Vladimir Anischenkov, propagandist; Ruslan Ostashko, TV presenter;  Yevhen Bekasov, TV journalist; Semyon Pegov, director of the WarGonzo project; Angelina Vovk, TV presenter; Kirill Pozdnyakov, journalist; Pavel Zarubin, author and co-host of the Moscow.Kremlin.Putin TV programme; Valentin Gvozdev, propagandist; Boris Gromov, State Duma MP; Vladimir Kornilov, political analyst; Yuri Kotyonok, propagandist and military correspondent; Evelina Blyodans, actress; and Yuri Loza, singer.

A number of Ukrainian citizens and former Ukrainian public figures are also on the list: Diana Panchenko, Ukrainian citizen and TV presenter; Dmytro Vydrin, Russian citizen, Ukrainian political analyst and adviser to several Ukrainian presidents; Yulia Lozanova, citizen of Russia and Ukraine and propagandist; Maksym Fomin, propagandist, citizen of Russia and Ukraine; Rodion Miroshnik, citizen of Russia and Ukraine and the ambassador of the so-called "Luhansk People’s Republic" in Russia; Spiridon Kilinkarov, former Ukrainian Parliamentary MP representing the banned Communist Party of Ukraine; Vasyl Vakarov, citizen of Ukraine and a pro-Russian public figure; Yevhen Kopatko, citizen of Ukraine and Russia and collaborator; Volodymyr Sergienko, Ukrainian citizen and writer; Kyrylo Vyshynskyi, citizen of Ukraine and Russia and former head of RIA Novosti Ukraine; Alla Bondarenko, Ukrainian citizen and leader of the banned Party of Sharii; and Denys Hryhoriuk, Ukrainian citizen and propagandist from the city of Donetsk.

Background: On 7 January, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved the decision of the State Defence and Security Council of Ukraine concerning sanctions against 119 Russian public figures. The majority of them are Russian citizens, and three are citizens of Ukraine.

The same day he also announced more sanctions against individuals who justify the Russian war against Ukraine.
