Russia attacks Kherson: hit children's hospital and high-rise building, one person killed

Russian invaders attacked a high-rise building, a boarding school and a children's hospital in Kherson on 16 January, killing one person. Three more people were killed in Kherson Oblast over the past day.

Quote from Tymoshenko: "This time, [the Russians] attacked the children's [hospital – ed.], as a result of which about 30 windows in the neonatal (6-storey) building were broken. The building is empty. There is no information about the casualties."

Details: Yaroslav Yanushevych, Head of Kherson Oblast Military Administration, has said that Russian invaders attacked Kherson Oblast 90 times in the past 24 hours. The oblast's peaceful settlements were targeted with artillery, MLRS, mortars, and tanks.

The Russians attacked Kherson 21 times. They attacked residential areas of the city. Yanyshevych emphasised that the occupiers deliberately targeted the Red Cross building, the city hospital, a rehabilitation centre for children with disabilities, a shipyard, a critical infrastructure facility and residential buildings.

Over the past 24 hours, three people were killed and 14 residents were injured to varying degrees of severity in Kherson Oblast due to the Russian aggression.

Updated: Yaroslav Yanushevych, Head of Kherson Oblast Military Administration, has noted that the Russian invaders shelled the children's hospital on the morning of 16 January with artillery. As a result of the attack, windows in the neonatal building were broken. The building was empty, so there were no casualties.

In addition, in the Dnipro district of the city, Russian shells hit an apartment building and a boarding school building. Previously, it was known about one victim who lived in a damaged house. The woman died from shrapnel wounds on the spot.
