Details: Politico has reported that the French and Ukrainian defence ministers are due to discuss the request during a call this week.

The French daily Le Figaro has stated that Oleksii Reznikov, Minister of Defence of Ukraine, will arrive in Paris on Tuesday where he is due to meet with his French counterpart. Lecornu has invited Reznikov to come to France in his letter from 25 January.

The ministers will discuss equipment that France may possibly supply to Ukraine, including air defence means.

Reznikov is also due to visit the Thales company where he will be presented a medium-range GM 200 radar which can be integrated in SAMP/T air defence systems.

Governments of France and Italy are considering the possibility of providing Ukrainian troops with such radars. Lecornu was in Rome last week to discuss this topic.

Background: On Monday, 30 January 2023, French President Emmanuel Macron did not rule out the possibility of supplying Ukraine with fighter jets.
