Yuri Ushakov, an aide to Russian leader Vladimir Putin, has said that Russia finds many points in the US 28-point "peace plan" acceptable but that Europe's alternative plan "absolutely does not suit" Moscow.

Details: Ushakov said that the Russian side has reviewed the American 28-point plan, which he described as stemming from "understandings reached in Alaska".

Quote: "Not all of it, but many provisions of this plan seem quite acceptable to us. Other provisions require the most detailed discussion between the sides. But this issue has not yet been discussed with us."

More details: Ushakov added that Moscow learned on Monday morning 24 November about the European counter-proposal and that it "absolutely does not suit us in a constructive sense".

He added that there are "certain signals" from the US side about a possible meeting between representatives of the two countries to discuss a peace settlement, although no specific agreements have been reached so far.

Background: Meanwhile, Putin has told Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that he sees the first draft of the US "peace plan", prepared jointly with Donald Trump's administration, as a possible basis for a "final peace settlement".

The United Kingdom, Germany and France have prepared counter-proposals to the 28-point US "peace plan", aiming to make it more favourable for Ukraine.
