The parties discussed the situation on the front and their predictions for the next few months, Russian war crimes, as well as high-priority needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in terms of armament and military equipment.

"The President made a special emphasis on the importance of recognising Russia as a state responsible for the campaign of terror against the civilian population, the need to create a special tribunal to investigate the crimes of aggression by Russia against Ukraine, and to direct the seized Russian assets to the reconstruction of our country," the President’s Office noted.

Republican Michael McCaul is one of the most active supporters of Ukraine in the US Congress, having visited it several times since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. In January, he called on the White House to hand over at least one Abrams tank to Kyiv to unblock the work of the tank coalition, and now he supports the provision of fighter jets.

Earlier on Monday, US President Joe Biden made an unannounced visit to Ukraine, announcing a new package of military aid from the US and additional sanctions against Russia for its aggression.
