The UK Ministry of Defence believes that the Wagner Group militants arrived in Belarus mostly without their heavy equipment, and they might have handed it over to the Russian Ministry of Defence.

Details: The analysts stressed that approximately 300 tents and 200 vehicles were found in the Wagnerites’ camp in the village of Tsel near Asipovičy. They noted that the tents and vehicle storage points were identified on satellite images taken on 19 July 2023.

The UK Defence Intelligence said that since mid-July 2023, at least several thousand Wagnerites are likely to have been stationed at the military camp in Tsel. The images show that hundreds of vehicles have arrived at the previously almost empty facility since mid-July 2023.

According to some reports, most of the spotted vehicles are trucks and minibuses with a small number of armoured combat vehicles.

The Wagner Group's ability to sustain heavy equipment and support assets, such as aircraft, will be key to its future combat capability.

Quote: "It remains unclear what has happened to the heavy equipment Wagner used in Ukraine; there is a realistic possibility that it was forced to return these to the Russian military."
