Zelenskyy on children injured in Chernihiv: They were just out walking with their parents
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said 12 children and about 80 adults have been injured in a Russian terrorist attack on the city of Chernihiv on Saturday, 19 August. Seven civilians have been killed, including a child whose mother is in critical condition.

Quote from Zelenskyy: "Russia launched a missile attack on Chernihiv this morning, right on the city’s central square – right where there are ordinary houses. Just where the city theatre is. Many people were in the city theatre and on the street.
Over 90 people were injured, including 12 children. They were just out walking in the square with their parents. At the moment, 7 people were reportedly killed, including a 6-year-old child whose mother is in critical condition in intensive care.
I would like to express my condolences to those who have lost family and friends in this blatantly terrorist Russian attack."
Details: President Zelenskyy noted that Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson had also expressed condolences to the Ukrainian people at the beginning of their meeting.

- At around 11:30 on 19 August, the Russian forces hit the centre of Chernihiv with a ballistic missile. Seven people have been killed and 90 wounded, including children.
- Russian forces reportedly launched a missile attack on the Chernihiv Music and Drama Theatre when a gathering of drone manufacturers and aerial reconnaissance training schools was being held there as part of the Liuti Ptashky (Angry Birds) demo day, although only the event’s participants knew the exact location.
- The Kremlin-aligned news agency RIA Novosti alleged that "the gathering of the military specialists from the Ukrainian Armed Forces related to combat UAVs" was the target of the Russian attack on Chernihiv, and posted a video of the strike.
