Search and rescue operation at the site of the attack of the Russian invaders in Chernihiv is completed. The number of victims has increased to 136 people, 7 of them are dead.

Details: He reported that 7 people were killed. 129 were wounded, including 15 children and 15 police officers.

Updated at 22:45: Ukraine’s National Police reported that  144 Chernihiv residents have sought medical assistance today, including 15 children and 15 police officers. Police officers are conducting door-to-door visits and taking statements from people who have sustained injuries in the Russian attack.

Background:

  • On the morning of 19 August, Russian troops hit the centre of Chernihiv with a ballistic missile.
  • Russian forces launched a missile attack on the Chernihiv Music and Drama Theatre when a gathering of drone manufacturers and aerial reconnaissance training schools was held there as part of the Liuti Ptashky (Angry Birds) demo day, although only the event’s participants knew the exact location.
  • Later, Kremlin-aligned Russian news agency RIA Novosti stated that the Russian invaders targeted "the gathering of Ukraine’s Armed Forces military specialists in combat drones" in Chernihiv.
