Details: The government order was placed in August 2023, and is worth several tens of millions of euros.

Quote: "Rheinmetall is pressing ahead with work to overhaul these older vehicles and ensure that the latest lot of Marder IFVs can be delivered as per contract starting in 2023."

More details: This order will bring the total number of Marder infantry fighting vehicles that Rheinmetall will supply to Ukraine to 80.

  • In March 2023, the company handed over the first 20 armoured vehicles for Ukraine, ordered by the federal government.
  • In addition, 20 additional infantry fighting vehicles from Rheinmetall were commissioned in June 2023. They were recently delivered to Ukraine.
  • The armoured vehicles in question are overhauled Marder 1A3s that Rheinmetall previously received from the Bundeswehr.
  • Back in the spring of 2022, the company, at its own expense, began repairing armoured vehicles for immediate combat readiness.
  • As noted by Rheinmetall, work on the Marder is currently underway at the Unterlüß and Kassel facilities. Up to ten armoured vehicles could be delivered in a month.
