Ukraine and the United States have developed five projects of rapid "hybrid" solutions that will significantly strengthen Ukraine's air defence.

Quote from Kamyshin: "The main advantage of such solutions is speed. It takes three to four years to develop a new air defence system. And we are already receiving finished products.

There are various short-, medium- and even long-range projects. We do not want to compete with our partners, but rather create a new market where they could not enter before. We get a rapid air defence upgrade, and they get the opportunity to integrate their systems into new markets."

Details: The minister said that the essence of all projects under the joint FrankenSAM brand is to integrate parts of Western air defence systems into old Soviet systems, which are in large numbers in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

There are projects where containers with American missiles are simply placed on old Soviet launchers, and there are solutions where entire American launchers are integrated into a common S-300 air defence system.

The minister noted that the first systems are already operating in Ukraine, and the next ones will arrive every month to strengthen the air defence system.

Background: In early December, the White House announced that Ukraine and the United States had signed a statement of intent on joint production and exchange of technical information to address the urgent operational needs of the Armed Forces, including in the areas of air defence systems, repair, maintenance, and production of critical munitions.

In particular, the Pentagon has provided Ukraine with technological data to begin the production of FrankenSAM hybrid air defence systems. This will allow Ukraine to modernise its existing air defence systems, including those of Soviet origin, and integrate them with certain Western munitions.
