During the visit, Alexander Lukashenko will visit a number of countries on the African continent.

The press service reported that the visit "will focus on intensifying cooperation in all mutually beneficial areas" and that Lukashenko seeks to establish strong ties between Belarus and African countries.

The press service later added that Lukashenko's plane had landed in Equatorial Guinea.

The Belarusian opposition says local dictator Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, 81, who has been in power for 44 years, is a friend of Lukashenko and has recently visited Minsk.

Motolko Pomogi also notes that Belarus has been "coping without Lukashenko's family for 10 days now".
