Ukrainian law enforcement officers have arrested a saboteur who attempted to blow up the power lines of railway tracks and rolling stock near a junction station in Kharkiv Oblast. He had also provided the Russians with information on the placement of air defence systems and military equipment.

Quote from SSU: "As a result of the special operation, an enemy saboteur who attempted to blow up the power lines of railway tracks and rolling stock near the junction station has been arrested.

According to available information, he planned to use a homemade explosive device to conduct a series of explosions. The suspect remotely received instructions from Russian military intelligence on producing it.

The occupiers hoped to disrupt the logistics of fuel and ammunition supplies for the Defence Forces on the Lyman front if sabotage was conducted successfully."

Details: The investigation noted that an unemployed resident of the village of Blyzniuky in the Lozova district began communicating with a representative of Russian intelligence on Telegram in lat December 2023. The man agreed to the Russian proposal to carry out tasks related to reconnaissance and sabotage activities. 

Following the Russian order, the man searched for the locations of Ukrainian helicopters in the Lozova district and provided this information to Russia. He also travelled to Kharkiv to find air defence systems locations in the city.

Law enforcement officers documented the man's reconnaissance and sabotage activities and arrested him during the preparation stage to blow up the railway in Kharkiv Oblast.

He was served with a notice of suspicion for unauthorised dissemination of information about the movement or deployment of Ukraine's Armed Forces. He is in custody and faces imprisonment.
